Bechstein was among the most prominent commanders of the Heer Wehrmacht during the early years of World War II, Nazi Germany's Main Armed Force. With the rank Field Marshall, he was a man who seen a lot of action, for being a recipient of Prussia's highest award the Pour Le Merite  or "The Blue Max" that he achieved during World War I. During the Great War, he was also a commander who held the very first German Air Service, the Deutsche Luftsreitkrafte attained with the rank of a General.

He was born
Paul Hitzig Georg von Kirstein in Berlin, the son to a Prussian aristocrat and Count of Prussia, he entered the military cadet school at age 11, along with his good friend Franz Ludwig von Schneider and his younger brothers Schermann and Cristoph. When Paul's father died, his mother Beatrice married her husband's good friend Georg Bechstein. Paul soon took the last name Bechstein and always will be remembered by that last name. Bechstein and Ludwig were also part of the Army against the Boxer Rebellion, and they saw the horrific massacres and rapes.

By the time of World War I, Both Bechstein and Ludwig were colonels of the Prussian Army, there first missions were to stop the advancing Imperial Russian Army from occupying East Prussia. Along the way, Ludwig brought in a Austrian volunteer whom Bechstein found suspicious, this Austrian was a young girl cross-dressed as a young boy named Heike Octavian von Freindamentz, and niece to Bechstein's mentor Count Ludolf von Freindamentz.

By 1916, Bechstein rosed up with the rank of General, and he was given responsibility of becoming a commander of the new
Deutsche Luftsreitkrafte, he chose Ludwig to be his second in command.  Both Bechstein and Ludwig were absolute amazed by the German ace pilots, for being that Manfred von Richthofen was being focused on becoming a national Hero, Bechstein wanted to ensure Ludwig's son Cornelius to be a hero as well.

By 1917, Bechstein fulfilled his promise to Cornelius of becoming an Ace with The Blue Max, at the same time he wanted to make sure that Russia gets out of the war hearing of a revolution in Russia. He saw this as a grand opportunity to ensure a victory against the Western Allies. Sadly, it didn't the end of the Great War caused the blame of Germany starting the war, which opens to the future events of World War II, thus the war consumed his friend Ludwig.

During the Inter-war Years Bechstein maintain a small military power trying to violate the Versailles Treaty to regain Germany's glory, however he faced both German Communists and the National Socialist German's Workers Party also known as the Nazis. When Hitler and the Nazis began the Munich Beer Putsch, Bechstein was informed by Alice Schafer, a common Beer waitress, to stop the Nazis from taking over the German government. Troops were sent to stop Hitler and his Nazis and success however this gain popularity for Hitler on attempt to rise again with his unfortunate bible , Mein Kampf, to shape the Third Reich.

When Hitler became the chancellor of Germany, Bechstein was now a Generaloberst to the Heer Wehrmacht, with this Germany's armies were once again glorious as its Pre-WWI years . Bechstein soon got involved in the Spanish Civil War, and participated in the Condor Legion,  he made Alice the German High Command's head secretary. By 1938, he rose to Generalsfeildmarshall and remained this rank until his unfortunate death in 1941 in the hands of the Gestapo.
